Within the Telecom Services BU, Project Management & Support Services Team, reporting to the Program Director, as part of a dedicated customer team.
We are seeking an experienced Telecom Project Manager with deep expertise in Core Networks, particularly Session Border Controllers (SBCs). The ideal candidate will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of telecom projects involving SBC deployment, integration, migration, and optimization. This role requires technical knowledge of VoIP, IMS, SIP, and related protocols, along with proven project management skills in telecom environments.
This role is based in Madrid, Spain (full time). No sponsorship, you must have the right to live and work in Spain.
Key responsibilities
- Project Management
- Lead end-to-end project management for SBC (Session Border Controller) deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, including risk assessment, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, vendors, and customers) to ensure smooth execution.
- Technical Leadership (SBC & Core Networks)
- Provide technical guidance on SBC architectures (Oracle ACME Packet, Ribbon SBC, Audiocodes, etc.) and their integration with VoIP, IMS, and 4G/5G networks.
- Oversee SBC configuration, SIP trunking, signaling, security policies, and interoperability testing.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to SBC call routing, media handling, encryption, and denial-of-service (DoS) protection.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (3GPP, IETF, GSMA) and security best practices.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams regarding SBC projects.
- Manage relationships with SBC vendors (e.g., Ribbon, Oracle, Audiocodes) and telecom service providers.
- Conduct regular project status meetings, providing updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain project documentation, including technical designs, test plans, migration strategies, and post-implementation reports.
- Ensure adherence to ITIL, PMP, or Agile/Scrum methodologies as applicable.
- Support audits and compliance checks related to telecom security and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience
- 5+ years in telecom project management, with a focus on core networks (SBC, IMS, VoIP, SIP).
- Hands-on experience with SBC platforms (e.g., Ribbon SBC, Huawei, Ericsson, Oracle ACME Packet, Audiocodes).
- Strong understanding of SIP, RTP, Diameter, TLS, and network security in telecom environments.
- Familiarity with virtualized SBC deployments (NFV, cloud SBC) is a plus.
- Certifications
- PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certifications.
- Vendor-specific SBC certifications is a plus.
Skills
- Spanish (Fluent), English (Very good).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced telecom environment.
