AWS Cloud Engineer (Solutions)

The AWS Cloud Engineer is part of the Cloud Delivery Team and responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a large-scale Bexprt solution(s) being built on AWS. The role could be 100% remote within UK/Europe, with occasional on-site meetings at Bexprt or customer offices in the UK or Europe.

Key responsibilities

  1. Solution Design
    • Work along with Lead Architect and peer Cloud Engineers to design and develop solution modules. 
    • Help evolve solution design and architecture. 
  2. Code Development
    • Write efficient, secure, and maintainable code in Python, or other scripting languages depending on the evolving requirements.
    • Implement best practices for code deployment, version control, and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD).
  3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
    • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of AWS resources.
  4. Automation
    • Implement automation scripts to streamline solution operation and infrastructure management.
    • Write scripts and code (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and processes.
  5. Monitoring and Performance Optimization
    • Set up monitoring and logging solutions for infrastructure and app components.
    • Optimize resource utilization for performance and cost efficiency.
  6. Collaboration
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders.
    • Participate in agile development methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  7. Troubleshooting and Support
    • Identify and resolve technical issues related to AWS infrastructure.
    • Provide support for incidents and participate in on-call rotations if required.
  8. Security Automation
    • Integrate security best practices into automation processes, including automated security checks and compliance scans.
    • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Configure and manage identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and other security measures.
  9. Scaling and Optimization
    • Develop automated solutions for scaling resources based on demand and optimizing resource utilization on AWS.
  10. Documentation
    • Create and maintain documentation for automation processes, configurations, and workflows.

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience.
  • Proficiency in using AWS services relevant to automation, such as AWS Lambda, AWS Systems Manager, AWS CloudWatch, AWS Step Functions, etc.
  • Experience with IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like AWS CodePipeline, GitHub actions, or GitLab CI for automating application deployments.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like AWS Systems Manager, or Ansible.
  • Understanding of security best practices and the ability to integrate security into automation workflows.
  • Experience with setting up automated monitoring and logging solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug automation scripts and processes.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Being able to interface and manage the relationship with the customer and relevant stakeholders.
  • AWS certifications related to automation and infrastructure (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
  • AWS Professional Certificates welcome.
  • English is a must. An additional European language is a plus.
